Repair Skill Level: 2 | Beginner to Moderate
Minimal disassembly (if any) and some basic tools may be needed.
Part Description: The ice maker module connects to the water line to automatically create ice cubes within the refrigerator/freezer.
Failure Symptoms: Ice maker not producing any ice, or over producing ice.
Testing: Check to make sure that the ice level arm isn't in the off position, the water line isn't blocked or frozen, the water filter isn't clogged, the water inlet valve isn't defective, the thermostat isn't set too low causing it to freeze up. If none of those is causing the failure, it may be time to replace your ice maker.
Bonus Tip: If your freezer temperature is more than 10 degrees Fahrenheit, the ice maker will not work efficiently. The temperature inside the freezer compartment should be between 0 and 5 degrees Fahrenheit for proper ice maker functionality.

Replacement
I was replacing my old ice maker in my Amana BX21VC, P1325014WC refrigerator because the plastic coating was peeling off and exposing the corroding cast metal ice tray below. This ice maker looks to have a better interface with the ice to allow ice sliding out. Time will tell. Otherwise, this product was a perfect replacement - easy installation and no need to adjust water input from the 4318047 REFRIGERATOR WATER VALVE FOR KENMORE that I also replaced . Great, fast service from Thrifty for both too.
