Minimal disassembly (if any) and some basic tools may be needed.
Part Description: The auger motor turns the ice auger that pushes ice through the dispenser chute.
Failure Symptoms: Ice maker not dispensing ice.
Testing: Pull out the ice bucket and turn the auger by hand. If it will turn freely, use a multimeter to test the auger motor for continuity. If there is now continuity, or the motor is getting power and still isn't running, it should be replaced.
Bonus Tip: If your freezer temperature is more than 10 degrees Fahrenheit, the ice maker will not work efficiently. The temperature inside the freezer compartment should be between 0 and 5 degrees Fahrenheit for proper ice maker functionality.
