*Due to Samsung using different ice makers depending on the build date of certain model refrigerators, you must look at the blue tag on the bottom of your ice maker and read the part number starting with DA97-XXXXXX off of that tag to ensure you are ordering the correct ice maker.

Part Description: The ice maker module connects to the water line to automatically create ice cubes within the refrigerator/freezer.
Failure Symptoms: Ice maker not producing any ice, or over producing ice.
Testing: Check to make sure that the ice level arm isn't in the off position, the water line isn't blocked or frozen, the water filter isn't clogged, the water inlet valve isn't defective, the thermostat isn't set too low causing it to freeze up. If none of those is causing the failure, it may be time to replace your ice maker.
Bonus Tip: If your freezer temperature is more than 10 degrees Fahrenheit, the ice maker will not work efficiently. The temperature inside the freezer compartment should be between 0 and 5 degrees Fahrenheit for proper ice maker functionality.

Perfect replacement part
My Samsung upper icemaker stopped working and resetting the icemaker test button did nothing. I ordered a replacement from Thrifty Appliance, who not only had the best prices, but I received the icemaker in two days. This was great my husband put it in it was just like the one that broke. Our fridge was 13 years old. I hated not having ice maker. found out when I called the place we purchased it from that my contract had expired, and they never contacted me to renew. Although this replacement ice maker was an exact fit, works perfectly in every way, and so far after 2 day have absolutely no complaints, I suspect it will fail in short order. The ice maker this replaced was born to fail. Plastic gears, plastic fingers to move the ice out. I'm sure this is an identical build.
Now I must commend thrifty on the price! Unbeatable!
If this piece of SamCrap lasts 3 more years, I suspect I'll be here doing this again. I would never recommend SamCrap to anyone...even my enemies. I would however recommend THRIFTY.
We'll see where we are in six months..
